I am a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in the Department of Anesthesiology, Perioperative and Pain Medicine at Stanford University, supported by an NIH/NIDA T32 Fellowship in Interdisciplinary Research Training in Pain and Substance Use Disorders. I trained as a Doctor of Physical Therapy at Regis University and completed an Orthopaedic Physical Therapy Residency at Northwestern University–Shirley Ryan AbilityLab. I received my DPhil in Clinical Neurosciences from the University of Oxford, where my doctoral research identified novel signs of peripheral nerve injury and neuropathic pain in whiplash-associated disorders. Alongside my research, I continue to practice clinically as a physical therapist at the Stanford Pain Management Center.
My research focuses on the mechanisms and prognosis of neuropathic pain following traumatic head and neck injuries — including whiplash, spinal cord injury, and related conditions. Using MRI, quantitative sensory testing, neurological assessment, and blood-based biomarkers, I investigate why some individuals develop chronic pain after injury while others recover, and work to translate these findings into better tools for clinical assessment and treatment.
