Teaching

Supervision, lecturing, and clinical instruction

Research supervision

I currently provide daily supervision to a research coordinator overseeing patient recruitment and testing at Stanford University. Previously at the University of Oxford, I supervised two research assistants coordinating clinical cohort studies, providing daily guidance on participant recruitment, data collection, and study procedures.

I currently provide primary research supervision to 3 medical students, 2 physical therapy residents, and 3 undergraduate students.

Lecturing and course instruction

Since 2018, I have developed and delivered lectures internationally for undergraduate and graduate science coursework and professional continuing education. Topics and venues include:

  • Chronic pain mechanisms — Stanford Vice Provost for Undergraduate Education Internship Program
  • The transition from acute to chronic pain — MSc course, University of Oxford
  • Pain mechanisms and clinical assessment in whiplash injuries — La Salle, Madrid
  • Entrapment neuropathies: pathophysiology and clinical management — international two-day continuing education courses (Italy, France, UK, Spain)
  • Assessment of peripheral nerve injuries — Shirley Ryan AbilityLab, Chicago
  • Upper extremity neuroanatomy and pathology — WWAMI Medical School, University of Wyoming

Clinical teaching

I have served as a Primary Clinical Instructor for Doctor of Physical Therapy students, supervising the evaluation and treatment of outpatient orthopaedic and chronic pain conditions.

From 2012 to 2018, I worked as a Teaching Assistant across several institutions, including DPT coursework at Northwestern University, international lectures at Shirley Ryan AbilityLab, and anatomy coursework at the University of Wyoming.

I facilitated the most attended workshop at the Advanced Pain Discovery Platform 2023 Conference: Transition from acute to chronic pain.
